Dear Self,

MELISA LOH MADE IT THROUGH HER FINAL THEORY

EVALUATION!!!! :) :) :)

I can’t begin telling you how relieved i am right now….sitting for evaluation 3 times is really humbling and trying. If i had failed today (for the 3rd time in a row), I would have to forfeit my final theory exam which i had booked almost 2 months ago. What a waste right! The next available date for the test is 19th July. (yes, it indeed appears that the entire singapore population is learning how to drive this year).  How stressful and nerve-wreaking huh…so much for 17 years of exam experience.

But yeap! i’m just so glad that it’s over…now i’ve only the actual final theory test to battle with. But if i can make it through the evaluation, chances are i’d make it through the test :)

And i realise how blessed i am. I can worry over such things when people not too far away in China and Myanmar are worrying for and about their lives. Geography matters huh…it’s amazing how geographical locaton plays a huge influence over the lives of their inhabitants.

Pray for them and be thankful for your existence. Whatever issues you’re struggling with, be grateful that it’s not worse.

While you are struggling WITH life, people elsewhere are battling FOR life.

That makes a whole lot of difference.

Stress Reduction Kit

Preparing for the final theory test evaluation is one of the most stressful things i’ve ever done. I reckon it’s even more stressful than studying for my exams.

THinking that i need some stress reduction kit of sorts, i googled it and guess what i found??

Like that’s going to help. Haha :D

Nursery Rhymes…

I was sitting in the hall yesterday when the babysitter next door decided to blast nursery rhymes to entertain her ward. It was then i realise how morbid nursery rhymes really are…

1) Humpty Dumpty: Suicidal humpty dumpty who fell to his death.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

2) London Bridge is falling down: The collapse of the London Bridge (there are more stanzas which record the countless failed attempts to (re)build the bridge. But you get the idea.)

London Bridge is falling down,
Falling down, falling down,
London Bridge is falling down,
My fair lady.

3) Sing a song of six pence: A king who has a frightful meal and a maid who has her nose ravaged by a vengeful(?) bird (possibly headed to the garden after singing for the king) - mind you, her nose wasn’t pecked AT, it was pecked OFF, that makes a whole lotta difference.

Sing a song of six pence, a pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh wasn’t that a dainty dish to set before the king?
The king was in his counting house counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey,
The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose!

_______________________________________________________

Now, that’s funny isn’t it? There’s always a big whoo-haa over protecting a child’s innocence and not exposing the fella to violence among other vices. But here we are, singing songs of suicide (humpty dumpty), the folly of men’s architectural capabilities (london bridge), vengeance and savagery (six pence) without even knowing it.

Then we get sooo very pleased when the child can recite these nursery rhymes from memory…praising the kid saying that the fella is without a doubt “the smartest kid in Singapore, JB and some say Batam”

Just what in the merlion’s spit are we teaching the next generation?! :)

May 9, 2008

I just found out over dinner that someone stole my bike.

That stinks.

Not only is it wrong to steal, but that bike has sentimental value. It was my post-PSLE present. The parents had bought it for me as they said i was a ‘big girl’ already (having sat for my first national exam) and big girls get to “upgrade” their bicycles!! Although that makes the bike almost 9 years old, it’s still in good condition! I take good care of my things.

It’s just plain disgusting that it’s gone now.

The parents say i should see it as i’m blessing someone with a mode of transportation.

I can’t see it as such at the moment. That bike is (was) MINE. I feel so cheated. According to daddy, the chain was sliced…so it can’t be like some elderly needing a bike right? Maybe i’m basing that on the stereotypical notion that the elderly are kind-hearted, smiley and benign individuals, but i just can’t imagine an elderly person sawing through a thick chain.

I’m incline to believe that it’s by someone younger who can very well afford his/her own bike but decided to be cheapskate and steal mine.

Riding my bike was on my post-exam to-do-list. In fact, I was planning my next bike adventure just last night. Now i don’t even have a bike!!

And to think that I was starting to like this area – SpringView.
What a deceptive name, for one, there’re no springs whatsoever. Plus, there’s no view except maybe that of my neighbour’s room. To make matters worse, i saw a kitten loitering near the lift lobby today.

Kitten = CatSSSSS nearby.

My worst nightmare.

Melisa is utterly disappointed, upset, pissed and disgusted. Post exam happiness has just evaporated.

Sem 2 AY 2007/2008 ends (officially)

Dear Self,

GUESS WHAT?! MELISA’S EXAMS ARE OVER!!!

And as you can tell, that makes her really happy!!! Something like this:

Another thing that makes her happy is that she’s TURNING 21 on the 21st of this month!! How cool is that huh????

VERY COOL.

But don’t get your hopes up people, although she’d very much like to have a party to commemorate that super super cool date that would happen only ONCE in her entire life…circumstances are not favourable…and here’s why

1) She just ended her exams today. That means there’s like 2 weeks left to plan an entire party, find a venue, draw up a guest list, cordially invite people to come, come up with a theme fitting for the very happening and exciting occassion, source for some form of entertainment, find them food….etc.

2) She’s taking her FTT (final theory test) evaluation next friday, which she absolutely has to pass else she would have to forfeit her FTT date which had to be booked 2 MONTHS AGO. Yes, that’s how competitive and frustrating the entire system is…you would think that the entire Singapore population is learning to drive nowadays. Plus, she has been hearing horror stories from well-meaning people about the test, like how one has to “just memorise the entire book, confirm can pass one” or “i took it 3 times before i could pass”. REMEMBER HOW FANTASTIC HER MEMORY IS & HOW MUCH TIME  SHE HAS TO GET THAT PIECE OF PAPER CERTIFYING THAT MELISA LOH WOULD NOT BE A THREAT ON THE ROADS?

in essence, she would be studying till next friday; which means A MERE ONE WEEK  to plan an entire party, find a venue, draw up a guest list, cordially invite these people to come, come up with a theme fitting for the very happening occassion, source for some form of entertainment, find them food….etc.

So yah dear self. NO TIME :(

Quite a pity though…I was thinking perhaps she could do without a party and have a gathering instead? That would be more manageable and requires less planning. But alas! Laziness takes hold of her and she has convinced herself that she shall relax on that day. After all, it’s HER BIRTHDAY! It makes no sense to have to stress over who likes her enough to come down for the gathering or whether these people actually like the cake and all that jazz. TOO MUCH WORK.So yes, if you don’t hear from her as the very exciting-once-in-her-life day draws near, it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t like you enough to invite you to her party. Melisa Loh is NOT having some secret underground party that you people arent’ invited to okie. (note to people at lunch today: Jaslin, Ling Ying, Doris, Jian Kuan and new friend). You see, if you are reading this, chances are, She LIkes You(s)!!

So yeap! Happy Holidays everyone!! :)
