Of bunnies and eggs?

The next installment: Easter Sunday!  Which has NOTHING to do with bunnies and eggs.

What it is: 3 days after the death of Jesus Christ on the cross when he rose from the dead.
Briefly: After he died on the cross, his body was placed in a tomb with guards to watch over it; plus a huge stone was placed to seal the entrance. They were worried that his disciples would come and steal his body and then say that Jesus rose from the dead (Matthew 27:62-66)

Why it matters: It represents Christ’s triumph over death. He has risen from the grave! Jesus is hence Lord of ALL, overcoming and defeating even death itself.

Significance: If Jesus had not risen from the dead, then the entire Christian faith wouldn’t amount to very much ….because it is based on the fact that Christ rose from the dead and on the third day ascended into heaven. 

You see, Jesus was crucified because of His claims to be the Son of God. To the pharisees (religious leaders of that time) this was considered blasphemy and sacrilegious. And i believe that because the idea of someone being resurrected is almost ludicrous in this day and age, many reject Christianity.

But because i aim to keep it short, in essence, Easter Sunday celebrates Christ defeating death. To Christians, it represents that we worship a living God - a God who is still alive today. A God who knows the past, resides with us in the present and one who awaits for us in the future. He’s is the God of all, death included. Nothing can stand against him! 

Not only that, we are assured that Christ knows what we are going through…all our troubles, headaches and heartaches because He experienced life on earth too. Just as we are; going through the trials and temptations in life.
Through Christ, we see God’s grace, mercy and most of all, LOVE extended to mankind. Because “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8b)

So yeap, that’s Easter Sunday in a nutshell.
