The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY (1 Jan to 10 April 2008)

Because the sem is drawing to a close (that means the exams are looming), i decided to post my reflections of the past 4 months or so. This sem has been interesting because it has been filled with really high highs and low lows (not a lack of vocab mind you, i am a bright child you know, but just because it sounds nice).

Any resemblance to reality is intended and if the
situation does sound familiar,
don't doubt it or be modest, i AM talking
about you.

The Good

  1. I really super super like maak maak maak the spot in the Deck that i’ve been frequenting of late. Very homely and packed with people i like! Dear people who have lunch with me, allow me to charge all my IT equipment (and use the power point), people who patiently listen to my complaints, share my joys and inject laughter to my otherwise boring breaks. It’s people like you who make my uni life more interesting!!! You’re melisa’s favourite people of the semester!! (i shan’t delete your numbers from my phonebook!)
  2. Group mates who make my life much easier by not being difficult and trusting my brain (these projects involve a certain brand of premier coffee and a certain earth-like planet found in another galaxy)
  3. Friends who return from overseas exchange and have really interesting stories to tell me. So i don’t even have the opportunity to ask my favourite question :)
  4. My new friends: I’m glad i got to know you this semester, it’s never too late to meet new people!
  5. New DG. I appreciate the level of openness and honesty :)
  6. People taking modules with me this semester…in particular that black-listed module. Listening to you guys speaking in that language of which i can understand a little makes me smile and makes that lesson more fun. I’m also glad that we agree on certain things and for that matter, certain people! hehe!
  7. The 5 most-treasured people in my life: 4 LOHs and 1 FOO.
  8. Certain individuals who appear online, offering me virtual company and words of encouragement. I’m really really blessed to have you all in my life. Thank you for caring. To say “I appreciate you” is an understatement.

The Bad

  1. Taking a module full of expectations only to have to endure such horrid teachings that make my head spin. That’s one of my favouritest topics to talk about you know, this module threatens to rip it off my list. But! I shall persevere, accept your views and challenge you on your grounds. I love my country, so there.
  2. Carrying capacity being breached on the forehead
  3. A group project that only materialised on the last day, causing accelerated heart beats, sleepless nights and super loud raised voices (even on the morning it was due)
  4. People who incense me because they think they know me extremely well and therefore, impose expectations on me [inscribing their ideals on the body] (Panelli, 2004)… because you’re not in my shoes, you don’t know what i’m going through, so please stop telling me what to do

The Ugly

  1. Situations which transform previously nice people into nasty dragons breathing down fire on anything and everything that crosses their paths. This includes hurtful accusations and painful thoughtless words
  2. People who judge others based on their own narrow views of life…till you can manage your life perfectly well, can i please suggest you stay out of mine; it makes all our lives more pleasant.
  3. People who fault me because of my priorities in life. I know you mean well - i really do, but perhaps you could phase your thoughts and statements in manners less threatening and annoying?
But then again, i don’t owe you an explanation :)
  4. Homo Sapiens who can’t manage their own lives and pass that burden on to other homo sapiens…that’s just plain mean and quite cowardly.

So yeap, that’s a summary of all that has been happening in my life: from Bukit Batok (home), to Clementi (school) and Bukit Panjang (church) – Scales employed: Body, Home, Street and hints of the Nation

Now it’s back to term paper-ing. How exciting!!
